The Peak District National Park in Derbyshire is the home of Britain's first National Park. Established in 1951 the Peak District is somewhat of an anomaly among Britains National Parks. To the North, East and West of the peaks lies the areas of the High Peak also known as the Dark Peak for its coarse black gritstone and to the South lies the areas of the Low Peak also know as the White Peak for its white limestone.
Located right in the heart of England, the Peaks are a paradise for walkers, cavers , rock climbers,
hand gliders and of course us Mountain Bikers. See the Photo Gallery of
shots we have taken during Skills Courses and Guided Rides.
Peak Mountain Biking chose Fairholmes Visitors Centre for its base and meeting point. The visitors centre
is located on the shore of Ladybower Reservoir right in the heart of the Dark Peak, not only is this area
renowned for some of the best single track technical mountain biking in England, it also offers some of
the most beautiful scenery.
Detailed information of the area surrounding Fairholmes Visitors Centre can be found on the
Ordinance Survey map OL1 - The Peak District Dark Peak Area and the visitors centre can be located
using grid reference 172892. Don't worry if you are not familiar with 6 digit grid references, all will be
explained on the Skills Courses.
